CNC Machining
Precision CNC machining services for prototypes and production parts. We machine complex geometries from metals, plastics, and composites with tolerances as tight as +/-0.005 mm.
About CNC Machining
CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machining is a subtractive manufacturing process where computer-controlled cutting tools remove material from a solid workpiece to create precision parts. It is the most versatile and widely used manufacturing method for custom metal and plastic parts, capable of producing everything from simple brackets to complex aerospace components.
FabRapid operates a fleet of 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis CNC machining centers and CNC lathes, enabling us to handle parts of virtually any complexity. Our ISO 9001:2015 certified facility delivers tolerances as tight as ±0.005 mm with surface finishes down to Ra 0.4 µm across 50+ metals and engineering plastics.
Whether you need a single prototype or thousands of production parts, our instant quoting platform analyzes your CAD file and delivers a price in seconds. Most CNC machined parts ship in 3-5 business days, with expedited options available for as fast as 24-hour delivery.

CNC Machining FAQ
We accept STEP (.stp/.step), IGES (.igs/.iges), Solidworks (.sldprt), Parasolid (.x_t), and many other native CAD formats. STEP is the preferred format for optimal compatibility and feature recognition.
Standard lead time is 5-7 business days from order confirmation. Expedited options are available: 3-day rush and 24-hour emergency service. Lead times may vary for complex parts requiring multiple setups or special tooling.
Standard tolerance is ±0.05 mm for most features. We can hold ±0.01 mm for precision applications and ±0.005 mm for ultra-precision requirements. Tighter tolerances increase cost and lead time. We recommend specifying tight tolerances only on features that require them.
Yes. We offer a full range of surface finishes including anodizing (Type II and III), powder coating, bead blasting, polishing, electroplating, black oxide, passivation, and more. Finishes can be selected during the quoting process.
There is no minimum order quantity. We produce single prototypes through production runs of 10,000+ parts. Pricing is per-part with volume discounts available for larger quantities.
Yes. We machine pre-hardened and fully hardened tool steels up to 62 HRC using CBN (cubic boron nitride) and ceramic tooling. Hard machining is available for tool steels including A2, D2, S7, and H13.
