Surface Finishes
30+ finishing options to enhance the appearance, durability, and performance of your parts.
Anodizing
Electrochemical process that converts the aluminum surface into a durable, corrosion-resistant oxide layer. Type II for decorative color finishes and Type III (hardcoat) for wear resistance up to 70 µm thickness.
Powder Coating
Electrostatic application of dry powder cured under heat to form a tough, uniform coating. Available in 200+ RAL colors with gloss, semi-gloss, matte, and textured finishes.
Bead Blasting
Propelling fine glass beads at the surface under pressure to create a uniform matte texture. Removes tool marks and machining lines without altering dimensions.
Black Oxide
Chemical conversion coating that produces a dark black magnetite finish on ferrous metals. Provides mild corrosion resistance with minimal dimensional change and a professional appearance.
Polishing
Mechanical polishing to achieve a mirror-like surface finish. Progressive abrasive steps produce surfaces down to Ra 0.05 µm for optical, decorative, and hygienic applications.
Electroplating
Electrolytic deposition of metal coatings (nickel, chrome, zinc, gold) for enhanced conductivity, corrosion resistance, and decorative appearance. All processes are RoHS compliant.
Smooth Machining
High-speed finish machining passes to achieve smooth surfaces directly from the CNC machine. Achieves Ra 0.8 µm or better without secondary finishing operations.
As-Machined
Standard CNC machined surface finish with visible tool marks. The most cost-effective option with typical surface roughness of Ra 1.6-3.2 µm. Ideal for non-cosmetic and internal parts.
Vapor Smoothing
Chemical vapor process that smooths the surface of 3D printed nylon and ABS parts. Seals porosity, improves aesthetics, and creates a semi-gloss appearance without dimensional distortion.
Chem Film (Chromate Conversion)
Chemical conversion coating (MIL-DTL-5541 Type I/II) for aluminum. Provides corrosion protection, maintains electrical conductivity, and serves as a primer for paint adhesion.
Passivation
Acid treatment that removes free iron from stainless steel surfaces and enhances the natural chromium oxide layer. Maximizes corrosion resistance per ASTM A967 / AMS 2700.
