PETG
Durable FDM thermoplastic combining the ease of PLA with the strength of ABS. PETG offers good chemical resistance, clarity, and layer adhesion.
About PETG
PETG (Polyethylene Terephthalate Glycol-modified) combines the easy printability of PLA with the strength and temperature resistance of ABS. It offers excellent layer adhesion, good chemical resistance, and a semi-transparent aesthetic.
FabRapid prints PETG for durable prototypes, food-safe containers, chemical-resistant parts, and outdoor enclosures. PETG is one of the most reliable FDM materials with minimal warping and consistent results.
PETG is FDA-approved for food contact in its raw form, making it popular for food and beverage industry prototyping and short-run production.

Common Applications
Design Guidelines for PETG
PETG strings during printing — design to minimize travel moves across open areas
Minimum wall thickness: 1.0 mm for standard FDM printing
PETG bonds strongly to glass build plates — use appropriate release agents to prevent damage
For semi-transparent parts, print with 100% infill and maximum layer height of 0.1 mm
PETG FAQ
PETG itself is FDA-compliant for food contact. However, FDM layer lines create bacterial growth sites. For food-contact parts, use all-metal hot-end components, food-safe build surfaces, and apply food-safe coatings. For production food-contact parts, injection molding is recommended.
